A «major» Palworld update is scheduled for this summer, though it won't have the previously-promised PvP Arena. Palworld recently made an appearance at the Triple-I Initiative showcase, a special event dedicated to revealing new information about upcoming indie games.
Palworld is quite easily one of the biggest indie games in the world right now, so it made a great deal of sense for it to be featured at the event. Palworld's early access release has broken records, and there are many excited to see how the game will continue to evolve in future updates. Pocketpair's appearance at the Triple-I event saw the company announce a PvP Arena for the game coming in summer 2024, though it has now walked back that announcement.
According to a new tweet by Pocketpair, the summer 2024 release window for the Palworld PvP Arena was a «mistake,» though the Arena is still coming at some point in 2024. While fans will have to wait longer than summer 2024 for Palworld PvP, they can still look forward to a big new update this summer. The Palworld summer update will be adding a new island, new Pals, new buildings, new weapons, «and more.»
While there will be some fans that are disappointed about the PvP Arena coming later than expected, this new update is probably more exciting for the vast majority of players. After all, Palworld is primarily a co-op, open world survival game. PvP will be nice, but it's not the game's main selling point. Loyal Palworld fans and lapsed players alike will almost certainly be more interested in catching new Pals and exploring a new island.
So far, the only new Pal has been added to Palworld post-launch, and that's raid boss Bellanoir. It sounds like the new Pals coming in the summer update will be more traditional Pals, with players able to encounter them while exploring the new island. Time will tell exactly how many new Pals will be a part of the big summer update, but more information on that front should come to light in the weeks ahead.
