The next hero coming to Overwatch 2 is Juno, and she’ll be playable in Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter this weekend as part of a limited-time trial. Blizzard revealed Juno’s abilities in a new gameplay trailer released Thursday, showing the support hero’s ability to heal her teammates, glide through the air, and give her team a temporary, Lúcio-like speed boost.
Juno’s reveal trailer shows off her primary weapon, abilities, and ultimate, which include:
Overwatch 2 players will get to test out Juno’s kit from Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21 on all platforms. She’ll be available in all modes, except for Competitive Play, during the limited-time hero trial. Juno will officially be released in Overwatch 2 on Aug. 20, when season 12 of the game goes live.
Blizzard first teased Juno, then known by the codename Space Ranger, at BlizzCon 2023. At the time, she was described as a Martian colonist and a “highly mobile support hero who has quite a bit of vertical mobility.” Last week, Blizzard teased her imminent appearance in Overwatch 2, showing that she’d made the journey from Mars to Earth and parked her landing craft in the Dorado map.
Juno may be related to another character from deep Overwatch lore: Jiaya, a former classmate of Mei’s who worked as a scientist at Lucheng Interstellar, the Chinese company that built the Horizon Lunar Colony. Lucheng Interstellar appears to have also been involved in developing a colony on Mars; Juno’s suit features the Lucheng logo. The name Juno, for what it’s worth, is the mother of the god Mars in Roman mythology. We’re sure to learn more about Juno’s role and her relationships to other Overwatch characters in the coming weeks.
Overwatch 2 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
