Nvidia's cloud gaming service, GeForce Now, has teamed up with Overwolf's CurseForge to bring mod support to World of Warcraft on the platform.
World of Warcraft: The War Within launches later this month on August 26th, and the new mod support will allow players to their favorite add-ons running even when playing the MMO on the cloud. The new CurseForge support for Nvidia's GeForce Now is targeting some of the most popular addons on the platform, including interface mods and more.
Via the Nvidia blog:
«GeForce NOW has collaborated with CurseForge to include over 25 of the top Addons from its platform, available to Ultimate and Priority members — including Day Pass users — to seamlessly customize their WoW experience. The Addons are just as easy to implement as they would be while playing locally on a PC gaming rig, and a CurseForge account isn’t required — just launch WoW and enable Addons from the game’s menu.»
The addition of addons is huge, and just brings the cloud experience even closer to one offered on a local machine. However, it should be noted that you do need a premium membership to Nvidia GeForce Now to take advantage of the addon service. However, it won't just be The War Within that CurseForge's service will support, as World of Warcraft Classic and Cataclysm Classic will both have add-on support for the cloud service.
You can check out this FAQ to learn more about exactly which add-ons are included and whether or not there are any limitations on them due to the service. Blizzard is ramping up for the launch of The War Within, the first in the new Worldsoul Saga, which was announced back at BlizzCon 2023. Yesterday, the team dove headlong into Delves, PvP, and the endgame for the upcoming expansion.
