Ten robotic crewmates can be added as recruits to your submarine in as you explore the Great Sea for answers about why its waters are growing harmful. Everyone you hire as a crewmate has their own unique skills and abilities used throughout your travels. As you figure out who to assign to different jobs, having everyone onboard will help you find the perfect crewmate for every position.
Every crewmate you recruit has a default job meant to apply to different parts of 's gameplay. For example, the character Wesley Hotchkiss starts in the Reaper job and gives you a unique hat for hiring him. Thankfully, you can switch any character's default job as soon as you add them to your sub, allowing you to customize your team for upcoming missions.

Out of the ten total crewmates you can hire, eight are recruited from bars you visit during your adventures. Escapades in the Great Sea will have you come across bars with many NPC characters to interact with. Talking at length to some characters may lead to them requesting to join your crew, but only after you have offered them enough Gallons to purchase their services.
Two crewmates are already with your crew at the start of the game, Daisy Clutch and Wesley Hotchkiss. While you can change their jobs immediately, you don't need to spend any Gallons to recruit them into new positions.
NPCs that can be recruited have a Gallon symbol above their head as you see them walking around a bar. Characters that appear this way spawn randomly every day, meaning you have to rely on luck to run into them at any given time. Try to always visit every bar you have unlocked in between wonderful adventures in to check and see if a particular character you can recruit shows up to have a drink.
