It’s always a good bet that Hideo Kojima may pop up to show something at The Game Awards, and he didn’t disappoint this evening. No, he didn’t show Death Stranding 2, instead he finally teased his long-ago announced Xbox-exclusive project. The first teaser focused on super-detailed facial animations of the game’s cast, including Sophia Lillis (the new It films), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), and legendary German actor Udo Kier. Whatever he’s cooking up will make use of Xbox’s cloud tech, although it also seems to be playing off the fan-favorite P.T. with a reoccurring opening door motif. The game’s tagline seems to be “For all players and screamers.” You can check out the teaser trailer, below.
Here's what Kojima had to say about OD…
"I'm really glad to be at the 10th Game Awards. Really happy to show the new title OD. And this title will feature in the main role, Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Keir.
I always like to challenge new things, groundbreaking things, and that's my kind of rule. This one, with the help of Xbox Games Studios and using their cloud gaming technology, we're working together, to make it immersive and [something] never seen before. It is a game, don't get me wrong, but at the same time a movie, but at the same time a new form of media."
Ah, but there was one more surprise. It turns out Kojima will be collaborating with acclaimed horror director Jordan Peele on the game.
