Seeing something from a series or franchise you love get the Lego set treatment is a pretty big deal, especially if you plan on buying those sets and building them yourself. Multiple elements from the Marvel and Star Wars universes have been turned into Lego, as has Mario and half the Mushroom Kingdom. All such big franchises that you might think since No Man's Sky isn't on that same level, it might not be considered for its very own Lego set, but that's where you're wrong.
Lego has a program called Lego Ideas through which creative fans of its products can suggest ideas for new sets. It's not as simple as submitting "Hey, a No Man's Sky set would be pretty cool". You need to either build the set or virtually create one while following the Lego Ideas guidelines. Once submitted, if the set reaches 10,000 supporters within a given window, Lego will officially review the set to determine whether it's worth manufacturing and selling it.
The No Man's Sky Radiant Pillar BC1 set, submitted to Lego Ideas by nasa105, passed the 10,000 supporters threshold on Monday. The set was helped along by Hello Games' director Sean Murray urging No Man's Sky players to give it their support. Murray shared a link to the set's Ideas page over the weekend and now we're kicking off the week with the real possibility that No Man's Sky might well get its own official Lego set in the future.
The centerpiece of the set suggestion is the Radiant Pillar BC1, the first ship you fly in No Man's Sky. Also included is a Traveller Minifigure, and a Sentinel drone you'll need to avoid.
