The Nintendo Switch 2 may feature an OLED display produced by Samsung, according to a new online report from Korea.
The new report, which was posted on news site Chosun Biz, revealed how Nintendo is reportedly in talks with Samsung Display to to supply next-generation OLED panels for various IT devices. These talks are pretty recent, as they apparently started on December 1st and were pretty much forced by the accusation of display maker BOE having allegedly gotten hold of Samsung's OLED trade secrets.
While we have received some conflicting information about the type of panel the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature, today's news seems to give more credence to the rumors talking about two different launch SKUs, which could feature a cheaper model mounting an LCD panel and a more expensive model with a much better OLED panel.
Having yet to be officially revealed, it is difficult to say when the Nintendo Switch 2 will finally release. While everything seems to point towards a late 2024 release, there's the chance the console will release earlier than expected, as suggested today by reliable tech leaker Ravengus. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa suggested earlier this year that not much time will pass from the system's announcement to its release, so there may be some truth to the early 2024 window suggested by the leaker.
It looks like the Nintendo Switch 2 will be coming out early next year. There will be a lot worth buying in the coming year.
