Fortnite fans think they've spotted some hints that indicate that Chapter 5 is actually a remake of Chapter 2, from the strange focus on Peely again to a mineral-based villain.
Just a few months ago, Fortnite fans were in for a time-travelling treat in the form of Fortnite: OG, a mini-season that brought things back to Chapter 1 and made us all remember the good old days of Victory Royales. Although Fortnite: OG ended at the start of December (with a return in 2024 already confirmed), some fans think that the time-travelling isn't quite over.
Over on the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit, one of the most popular posts over the past couple of days comes from Redditor MagiStarIL, who suggested that Chapter 5 is a remake of Chapter 2. That's a bold claim, but they did have some evidence to back it up, and it's pretty convincing.
The first thing that they point out is that we didn't actually time-travel back from the OG season when it ended, which means that we're technically at Chapter 2 on a different timeline now. This means that the general events are the same, but some things have been slightly changed around and altered by whatever Jonesy did in Fortnite: OG.
There are a few key examples of this. The first is a mineral-focused villain, with Midas in the original Chapter 2 and Montague in Chapter 5. Similar-sounding names aside, both villains can transform their bodies into different minerals, which seems far too similar to be a coincidence and likely an altered event.
It's worth noting that the Big Bang event seemingly resetting the Fortnite universe can be used as a way of explaining why things are so similar between the two chapters.
