Fortnite players think that one of Chapter 5's new gameplay mechanics, the Medallions you get from defeating bosses, aren't even worth the trouble of picking up.
There's been so much going on in Fortnite lately, from its new modes that are basically whole new games to its introduction of long-awaited characters like Peter Griffin and the Ninja Turtles, that it's sometimes easy to forget that Chapter 5 has begun and added in a whole bunch of new mechanics.
Most of these mechanics have been received pretty well, as players have finally gotten used to the new movement and seem to be having fun with the trains and weapon customisation. There is one that hasn't been taken to quite as well, however - the Medallions. Chapter 5 introduces a new pick-up that is earned from defeating bosses which, when collected, lets the player recharge their shield a small amount every second, something that stacks with each Medallion you collect.
You'd think that most players would be dropping right into the most dangerous areas of The Island to race for the Medallions, but it seems that most players actually aren't all that bothered by them. Over on the Fortnite subreddit, one of the most popular topics over the past few days has been about the worthiness of the Medallions, with most players seeming to agree that they're not worth the trouble.
One of the posts discussing Medallions was started by Redditor ShimoNoKigen, who said that they aren't "worth actively going for" because of how much trouble the bosses are to take down. That's not the only problem, though, as most players seem to agree that the minimal amount of regeneration to your shields makes them all the more useless.
