Popular Twitch streamer Tyler «Ninja» Blevins confirmed his cancer diagnosis after a recent doctor's visit. With over 19 million followers on Twitch, Ninja is one of the biggest creators on the platform.
As a public figure, Ninja often shares parts of his life with his fans on streams and social media. Recently, he took to Twitter to update fans on his health after his annual skin and mole check with his dermatologist, which he described as a shock for him and his wife, Jess.
In the tweet, Ninja detailed that he had a mole removed from the sole of his foot, which turned out to be a melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Despite the initial shock of the discovery, the dermatologist was optimistic that they managed to catch the melanoma in the early stages. He's also waiting for further biopsy results to confirm if all the cancerous cells were removed, so they'll know the next steps that they need to take.
Many of Ninja's followers and fellow content creators sent their support and well-wishes as he awaits the results. They also commended him and his wife for being proactive about getting skin checkups. Ninja reminded his followers to schedule skin checkups regularly to catch possible melanoma on their bodies.
Fortunately, most melanoma can be successfully treated if it's found early, so hopefully Ninja's doctor will come back with good news in the future. This isn't the first time a popular streamer has been candid about their cancer diagnosis. Twitch streamer Kyedae previously shared her cancer journey with her followers, from the initial diagnosis to now being in remission.
It's always worrisome for many fans when their favorite streamers and content creators share troubling health news, such as a cancer diagnosis. While sharing their lives online can be tricky at times, many of them use their experiences to educate people on their condition, just like what YouTuber Hank Green did when he was diagnosed with cancer.
