Several new previews have dropped for Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, the follow-up to its acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. It sees protagonist Senua battling through Viking Iceland against tyrannous forces while struggling with her “darkness.” Interestingly, Tameem Antoniades, who wrote and directed the first game (and founded the studio), isn’t part of the project.
Antoniades is no longer with Ninja Theory, per an Xbox spokesperson speaking to Polygon. Though involved in the sequel’s early stages, it’s now led by environment art director Dan Attwell, visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill and audio director David Garcia.
Thus far, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is looking very good and shaping up to be an even more brutal journey for its protagonist. It’s out on May 21st for Xbox Series X/S and PC as a digital-only release for $49.99. Playtime is similar to the first game, which means it could take about 7.5 hours to finish the main story and nine hours to do everything. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
