Once Human, a new post-apocalyptic multiplayer open-world survival game from Starry Studio and NetEase, will open a beta test tomorrow. The teams describe their game as «a New Weird Sandbox Survival Game», and now's your chance to see what they mean.
Netease, which has been expanding its devleopment projects, is opening this second beta test. The test will let you check out the game’s features, including exploring the open world, crafting, basebuilding, joining up with other players for PVE, or even PvP. Starry Studio released a 9-minute trailer to introduce Once Human’s world, the features, setting, and a number of enemies who were…once human.
You play as a Meta, one of the survivors of an extraterrestrial disaster that changed the world and much of life within it. The enemies you will fight are called Aberrants. Overall, the story involves the spread of an alien substance known as Stardust. Once this started spreading, it began transforming living creatures into monsters and gave them a number of formidable supernatural abilities. You'll get an RV that you can upgrade to essentially be like a moving base, but you'll also want to invest in the world.
The trailer introduces some other features including tracking down anomalies, capturing them, and using that to unlock rewards and even progress to learn other abilities. As in many survival games, you'll have to learn how to use the world around you in order to stay safe, find resources, improve your arsenal as well as your supplies, and protect the last surviving humans all around from various threats posed by these creatures.
