Haley may already be one of the most high-maintenance characters of butfollowing the launch of the 1.6 Update, players are discovering that she's even more persistent than usual. Over the course of their time in Pelican Town, Farmers have the opportunity to date and eventually marry several romanceable NPCs, a process that has been greatly expanded upon in the latest patch. While most of the characters are fairly relaxed about when players finally pop the question, Haley is apparently unpleased if the courting process takes too long.
Posting Reddit, user azekiel211 shared an image of what happens if Farmers don't prioritize Haley if they've been dating for too long: She begins to question the state of the relationship.
The dialogue sees the NPC asking the player if she's «just going to be [their] 'girlfriend' forever...?» suggesting that she's growing tired of waiting around for someone to finally pop the question. For their part, azekiel211 noted that Haley's question worked, prompting them to restart the day, clean up the house, and begin the questline that yields the Mermaid's Pendant, the item used to propose.
Haley's dialogue requesting marriage is a new feature implemented in 's 1.6 Update and it's not just exclusive to her. Every romanceable NPC has a unique response to dating the player for a year but Haley's is by far the most demanding, fitting with her character. Other examples include Sebastian recalling when he and the Farmer started dating on their one-year anniversary while Abigail also asks where the relationship is heading but she's far less confrontational about the discussion.
