Sony have launched Expansion Open Access, which gives lapsed Destiny 2 players access to The Witch Queen, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep for the next month or so, until June 3rd. This delightful gift / cheap marketing ploy to get people interested in the game again is available across all formats and gives you access to a huge amount of content, so much that you are unlikely to finish it within the given time period.
Those with PlayStation Plus can also access the Lighfall expansion as part of this month’s free games. On top of all this, the current filler season, Into the Light, is also free with a boss rush mode, new PvP map, reprised weapons and more.
If you are re-joining the game after a long time away then head to the Hall of Champions, the new hub area, and pick up the Gift of the Thunder Gods, a set of armour and weapons that will instantly boost your character to the highest level.
As part of Into the Light, a bonus selection of content that Bungie are releasing as The Final Shape was delayed, three new PvP maps have been added to Destiny 2. Eventide Labs, Dissonance, and Cirrus Plaza will be collected together in a new Crucible playlist called New Territory.
Eventide Labs is set in a long-forgotten human colony research outpost on Europa that Eramis chose to use as a refuelling station, Cirrus Plaza is set in a shopping and entertainment centre on Neomuna, and Dissonance is set on the Witness’s former ship, Essence, which was terraformed by the Traveler.
