Nine new promo cards have appeared in , giving players a tantalizing tease of upcoming events. has officially launched in, providing players with over 80 new cards to collect. Several of these cards look to shake up the metagame, including Celebi ex and its accompanying support card Serperior. While 's cards are available via regular booster packs, eagle-eyed players also noticed some brand-new cards set aside for future promo events.
The card dex now includes nine spaces for new promo cards, providing a tease of what players can expect over the next six weeks. The new cards include a new Pikachu promo card featuring Pikachu and all the Kanto Starter Pokémon, as well as an alternate art Blastoise card and an alternate art Moltres ex card. There are also new Chansey-stamped versions of Squirtle and Charmander, and promo card versions of Eevee, Snivy, Cincchio, and Volcarona. All nine cards can be seen in the Reddit post below:
The new promo cards are likely tied to several upcoming events that are likely to model recent events. For example, the Blastoise full art card is likely tied to a new Blastoise solo battle event, where players face a computer-controlled deck headlined by Blastoise. Both Charmander and Squirtle are tied to an upcoming Wonder Pick event, based on the use of the Chansey stamp. The new Pikachu card, due to the lack of a solo stamp, is likely to be January's Premium Pass card. We'll note that November's premium pass featured the same Pikachu card with different artwork.
