Wuthering Waves Has, Predictably, Jumped Straight to the Top of PS5's Most Downloaded in Japan | Push Square
Wuthering Waves has shot straight to the top of the PS Store’s best sellers list in Japan, although obviously this is purely ranking downloads as the game is free-to-play. The title sits just one place behind Genshin Impact in second, which just received a highly anticipated character, Mavuika.
For years there’s been a lot of hand-wringing over PS5’s dreadful software showings in the Weekly Famitsu physical sales charts. Often, the top ten is dominated by Nintendo games. Many wonder what PlayStation owners in Japan are actually playing!

The answer is free-to-play gachas, with Zenless Zone Zero also sitting in third on the PS Store best sellers list, behind the aforementioned Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. Honkai: Star Rail is a little further down in ninth. Surprisingly, Infinity Nikki is a long way down the list.
In the US, Wuthering Waves currently sits 14th on the best sellers list, with free-to-play juggernauts like Roblox, Marvel Rivals, and Fortnite all above it.
That’s not a bad result really, and while these gacha games aren’t quite as popular overseas as they are in Asia, it proves there’s an increasingly substantial market for them on console.

The Pokémon Unite community for example doesn't try to boycott the scummy battle passes and loot boxes anymore because they know people from Japan are going to pay for it anyway so there is no point because there won't be any change. If they don't want to buy games then let them pay all
