Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani challenges the MCU being designated as Earth-616. Vellani plays Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, an Avengers-superfan-turned-superhero, in the upcoming Disney+ series from Marvel Studios. And, through the actor's social media posts and public appearances, she has proven she's somewhat of an MCU superfan herself.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, both Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) traverse multiple alternate universes in an attempt to escape the reach of the Scarlet Witch. They eventually land in one reality that identifies themselves as Earth-838, while revealing they have designated the MCU Earth-616. This aligns with a previous announcement by Marvel producer Nate Moore, who seemingly confirmed that the MCU's Earth is 616, but fans have previously identified the MCU continuity under 199999, due to the fact that an official MCU book released in 2008 used that designation.

Now, speaking from the red carpet premiere for Ms. Marvel (via The Direct), Vellani jokes that Feige lied about the MCU designation of Earth-616. She explains that the comics are 616, and that the MCU should still be regarded as 199999. Read what the Ms. Marvel star says below:
No, I mean, I'd like to say, [the comics are] 616. I don't believe that the MCU is 616. As much as Kevin Feige can make us think that it's 616, it is 199999.
