Luke Cage star Mike Colter comments on possibly making his return to the MCU and reprising his Marvel hero following his show's 2018 cancellation. Since its launch, Disney+ has been a new platform for Marvel Studios to help flesh out their franchise on the small screen over the last few years. However, the Disney-branded streaming service wasn't first to expand the MCU in the world of television. Prior to being absorbed into Kevin Feige's larger responsibilities at Marvel Studios, there was the Marvel TV division, which was overseen by Jeph Loeb, with MCU shows airing on ABC, Netflix, Hulu, and Freeform.
One of the biggest Marvel TV shows to come out of Netflix was Luke Cage, following Colter's character after the events of Jessica Jones season 1. Leading up to the premiere of The Defenders crossover event, Luke Cage focused on Marvel's Power Man protecting Harlem before coming together with the other New York heroes. Like most of the other Netflix Marvel shows, Luke Cage came to an abrupt end, as the platform cancelled the superhero drama after only two seasons. Since then, those series have made their way to Disney+, where they are currently available to stream.
