The latest episode of Screen Rant's Pitch Meetingseries crashes into Moonfall. Having previously directed Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012, Moonfall is the latest disaster flick from the mind of filmmaker Roland Emmerich. The director has also ventured into the cosmos throughout his career for Moon 44, Stargate, and the German-language Noah's Ark Principle. Premiering in theaters this February, Moonfall marries the director's love of space movies with his signature disaster thriller.
Co-written by Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen, Moonfall finds a mysterious force knocking the moon off its orbit, which sends the sattelite hurling towards Earth. With the help of conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman, two former astronauts, NASA executive Jo Fowler and disgraced astronaut Brian Harper, are the only ones who know the secret to saving humanity and only have a few weeks time to execute their plan before impact. Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and Game of Thrones' John Bradley lead the cast of Moonfall alongside Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, and Donald Sutherland.
