Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequels, has reacted to the famed franchise’s sequel trilogy. Beginning in 2015 and culminating in 2019, the sequel trilogy includes Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker. The series fared well with fans for the most part and brought the Skywalker saga to an official close.
The concept of sequels within the franchise has been a challenging one ever since George Lucas first announced that he’d be returning to theStar Wars universe for more. On one hand, fans are typically beside themselves with excitement over the prospect of more adventures. On the other hand, however, the demand to replicate the level of enjoyment that past films brought is practically impossible to fulfill. This was especially true for Lucas when it came time to deliver the prequels. The original Star Wars trilogy had cemented itself into the popular consciousness by the time Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace was released, and while it performed well enough at the box office, fans had several complaints. With each successive release, many fans felt that the prequels weren’t what they’d hoped for.

That same struggle continued with the release of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. This time around, however, Lucas was no longer in control, and long-time fans were all very curious to see where the series would go next.
