The latest Star Wars TV show, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is a big success. Disney has announced that Obi-Wan is now the most-watched Disney+ original series premiere worldwide to date.
This is based on hours streamed in an opening weekend. Disney did not announce any specific stats around total hours streamed, nor did it say which original series previously held the record. Obi-Wan surely got a viewing bump due to the fact that two episodes, not one, premiered at launch on May 27.

In any event, it's no surprise that Obi-Wan started strong. After all, the series had a lot of hype behind it, with prequel movie stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning to play their iconic characters, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, respectively. What's more, the show debuted during Star Wars Celebration. Not only that, but people in America had extra downtime this weekend thanks to the Memorial Day long weekend.
In addition to McGregor and Christensen, Obi-Wan stars Moses Ingram, and the official Star Wars account has spoken up to defend her amid racist comments online.
Other Star Wars TV shows available on Disney+ include The Mandalorian, which returns in February 2023 for Season 3, as well as The Book of Boba Fett. The next is Andor, which premieres in August. Beyond that, Disney is producing a new Star Wars show called Skeleton Crew with Jude Law.
