Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi just proved that one of the funniest Star Wars memes is completely nailed on. The latest episode of Ewan McGregor's new starring vehicle introduced yet more survivors of Star Wars' Order 66, and an underground network of sympathizers who helped them escape through The Path. In doing so, Obi-Wan Kenobi managed to perfectly show one of Star Wars' most prevalent fan tropes in action.
So far, Obi-Wan Kenobi has avoided the fan-bait Star Wars toybox criticisms that plagued The Book Of Boba Fett and feels more like an organic expansion of the Prequel Trilogy. There are obviously call-backs and recognizable Star Wars characters, lore, and locations, but the intimacy of the story — tying Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Moses Ingram's Third Sister terrorizes, and Princess Leia into a tight square — narrows focus. Crucially, though, Obi-Wan Kenobi avoids the usual Star Wars problem of making the universe feel small.

Despite the tight focus on the central characters, Obi-Wan Kenobi does feature cameos and supporting roles, and by introducing Indira Varma's Tala Durith, the show unwittingly confirmed the notorious Glup Shitto fan meme. That meme pushes Shitto as the most infamous and cherished of Star Wars characters, only he doesn't actually exist and instead represents the culture of dropping or referencing returning characters from the Star Wars extended universe known only to hardcore fans into new Star Wars releases primarily made for audiences who have no hope of understanding their importance.
