WARNING: Light spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4
After an excellent third episode that brought the former Jedi master face-to-face with the padawan he thought dead, Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 spins its wheels despite being centered around a thrilling rescue mission. Disney+ has long had pacing issues with their event series, dating back to the premiere of WandaVision in 2021. Obi-Wan Kenobi is no exception. The show has proved fruitful in expanding on characters like Leia and the titular Jedi, but its reticence to further explore Darth Vader during this era is hindering what is otherwise a thrilling show.
Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 4 finds the Jedi still reeling from his duel with Vader on Mapuzo as Indira Varma's Tala takes him to a rebellion stronghold to recover in a bacta tank. Despite being severely injured, Obi-Wan is insistent on rescuing Leia, and he and Tala head to the Inquisitor's headquarters to save the young princess. Tala uses her pull as an Imperial officer to break Obi-Wan into Fortress Inquisitorius, but the trio is forced to fight their way out as Third Sister Reva brings the full weight of her powers (and her grudge against Obi-Wan) down on the Jedi.

With Obi-Wan and Vader coming to blows in the previous episode, Obi-Wan Kenobi struggles to top itself in the latest episode, underscoring a larger problem with many of Disney's series.
