WARNING: Mild spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5
Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 is a satisfying enough penultimate installment that fleshes out the series' villains, sets up what's to come in the final hour, and has just enough twists and tragedy to make for another decent entry in a show that has been uneven at times. It's no secret that the long-awaited rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader is the main selling point of the latest Star Wars show, but the series has found its strengths when it forgoes set-up for the emotional underpinnings of the series. Here, Obi-Wan Kenobi finds a way to balance both and while it's a shame that it has taken until the penultimate episode for the series to find its rhythm, it leads to an episode that is one of the show's strongest.
Following the daring rescue in episode 4,Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 sees Darth Vader and Reva tracking the Jedi to Jabiim, the planet where Tala took him and Leia after their escape from Mapuzo. While their respite is brief, the rebels plan an escape as Vader hovers menacingly over the planet, sending Reva down to stage an attack on the base. While Obi-Wan, Haja (Kumail Nanjiani), Tala (Indira Varma), and Kawlen (O'Shea Jackson Jr.) fight back against the stormtroopers and the new Grand Inquisitor, Leia puts a plan in motion to help everyone escape from the clutches of the Empire.
