The Star Wars prequels’ Anakin Skywalker is reimagined as Leonardo DiCaprio in AI art. The Star Wars prequels’ Anakin was actually played by Hayden Christensen, who played a rendition of young Anakin before he became Darth Vader. Christensen appears as Anakin / Darth Vader again in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the role of Anakin almost went to a much more famous actor: Leonardo DiCaprio.
In a 2015 interview, DiCaprio revealed that he turned down the role of Anakin Skywalker in the prequels because he did not think that he was ready to take on a big role that early in his career. DiCaprio has famously turned down other major roles, including Robin in the 1995 film Batman Forever and protagonist Peter Parker in Spider-Man. In these cases and the case of the Star Wars prequels, these roles went to actors who have much less star power now than DiCaprio. DiCaprio was already established in his career by the time the prequels came out, delivering notable performances in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Romeo + Juliet, andTitanic. Nonetheless, he declined all these major roles, and instead selected early 2000s roles in Gangs of New York, Catch Me if You Can, and The Aviator.
