A new piece of Star Wars fan art imagines Christian Bale playing a live-action version of Starkiller. In 2008, Galen Marek, codenamed Starkiller (not to be confused with the new Death Star in The Force Awakens), was introduced as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice in the popular Star Wars video game The Force Unleashed, which was followed by The Force Unleaded II in 2010. Although the gray Jedi, voiced by Sam Witwer (The Clone Wars, Rebels), has essentially been replaced by Sith Inquisitors in canon, Starkiller is considered by many to be one of the franchise’s best characters.
Lucasfilm’s live-action Star Wars TV shows have seen several popular characters return on Disney+. Previously animated characters Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano both had supporting roles on The Mandalorian season 2, and bounty hunter Cad Bane was a surprise villain in The Book of Boba Fett. Obi-Wan Kenobi continued this trend by showing the Grand Inquisitor in live-action while featuring the long-awaited return of Ewan McGregor’s titular character and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (not to mention Qui-Gon Jinn and Emperor Palpatine). As upcoming shows like Andor explore the era of the Galactic Empire, now would be the time to give Starkiller the live-action treatment.
