Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah respond to the MCU show being review bombed after episode 1. Joining a host of other MCU shows like WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye, Ms. Marvelis the latest Marvel superhero offering to land on Disney+. The show follows Pakistani-American teenager and Captain Marvel superfan Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) as she struggles to fit in at school and adapt to her newfound powers. Ms. Marvel has been a hit with critics thus far, with many praising Vellani's performance as the MCU's first Muslim superhero and the show's more lighthearted tone.
Despite the strong critical reaction and the generally positive reaction from fans, Ms. Marvel is the latest series to become the target of review bombing online. Not long after the first episode aired, the show was hit with a number of 1-star reviews on IMDb from a vocal subset of fans, although the reasoning behind the review bombing is currently unclear. Ms. Marvel joins fellow Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as a number of other movies like Captain Marvel and Eternals that have also found themselves the target of review bombing campaigns by unhappy fans.
