Originally unveiled in 2014 with her solo Marvel Comics run, the character proved to be a massive hit with critics and fans alike.
Ms. Marvel episode 1 introduced the live-action MCU version of Kamala to audiences around the world, showcasing her comic-accurate Avengers super-fandom. While at the first annual AvengersCon, a superhero convention honoring those who saved the universe from Thanos, Kamala enters a Captain Marvel cosplay competition. To add a personal flavor to her outfit, she includes her grandmother's bangle that her mother had hidden away in the attic. Unknown to Kamala, the bangle unlocks a power from within the teenager, a crystalized light energy that wows the audience. Many take out their phones and record the incident, attracting the attention of the Department of Damage Control and Special Agent P. Cleary (Arian Moayed), a character that previously appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In a recent interview with THR, Ms. Marvel show creator Bisha K. Ali revealed that Agent Cleary's inclusion into the show was originally Feige's idea. According the showrunner, the executive members of Marvel Studios have a greater understanding of the overarching narrative of the MCU franchise years into the future.
