Hayden Christensen has spoken up about the racist backlash fellow Obi-Wan Kenobi co-star Moses Ingram has been facing. The new Disney+ Star Wars series features Ewan McGregor back in the titular role, with Hayden Christensen reprising his iconic role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Ingram plays Reva Sevander/Third Sister, an Imperial Inquisitor tasked with ruthlessly tracking down Kenobi at Vader's behest.
In the latest trilogy of Star Wars films, both John Boyega (Finn) and Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) were the subjects of racist abuse online, and this abuse eventually led to Tran removing herself from social media entirely. Now, since Ingram's first appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the actress has been met with racist backlash online, sharing some of the messages she's received. The abuse Ingram has been facing prompted Lucasfilm and Disney to make a statement, saying "if anyone intends to make [Ingram]feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist." Ewan McGregor has similarly responded to the racist remarks, saying "if you are sending her bullying messages, you are no Star Wars fan in my mind. There's no place for racism in this world." Ingram herself was the first to comment on the harassment by taking to Instagram, and writing that she was disappointed in the comments, but that she is thankful for "the people who show up for me in the comments and the places I’m not going to put myself."
