The new Honest Trailer pokes fun at Roland Emmerich's disaster movie Moonfall. Emmerich is no stranger to the disaster genre, having previously directed Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. Moonfall is Emmerich's most recent attempt at destroying Earth with a star-studded cast, including Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Donald Sutherland, Michael Peña, and John Bradley. Moonfall also lives up to its name, featuring a plot that sees the moon knocked from its orbit and set on a collision course toward Earth.
Critics were not kind to Moonfall when it was released in February, as the film earned a 38% Rotten rating from Rotten Tomatoes. However, poor reviews are par for the course regarding Emmerich's filmography, which only features two Fresh rated movies, Independence Day and The Patriot. Despite the less than stellar reviews, audiences seemed to enjoy the spectacle of Moonfall, which is often the case with Emmerich's bombastic disaster movies. Still, the film was a disappointment at the box office, only bringing in $43 million worldwide with a reported budget of $140 million, making it the year's biggest box office bomb so far.
