The latest episode of Screen Rant’s Pitch Meeting series casts its wand upon Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Based on J.K. Rowling’s 2000 novel of the same name and released in 2005, The Goblet of Fire is the fourth film in the Harry Potter franchise and the only installment directed by Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco). In the wake of Alfonso Cuarón’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), The Goblet of Fire represented a continuation of the series’ darker tonal shift.
In his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry alongside Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), The Goblet of Fire follows Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) as he navigates the Triwizard Tournament. Despite not being of age, Harry’s name is mysteriously drawn to compete in the dangerous contest, which is ultimately revealed to be part of a larger plan to bring back Lord Voldemort. The Goblet of Fire also features the saga’s first appearances of Ralph Fiennes as Tom Riddle, aka Voldemort, and Brendan Gleeson as Alastor Moody. It also featured the first/last appearances of David Tennant’s Barty Couch and, of course, Robert Pattinson’s tragic Cedric Diggory.
