Monster breeding RPG Volzerk has received a long-awaited English-language translation in an update yesterday, making it more accessible to a whole new set of players.
The RPG has been available globally since its release at the end of January this year, but prospective monster tamers have had to make do with relatively limited language options. Future updates will hopefully fill all the gaps in these cases.
A few big names have pitched in on the title. Volzerk’s music comes from the legendary Yoko Kanno, which was enough to turn our heads a little and make us take a closer look.
Volzerk takes place on a strange island called Fort Lemuria. Strange creatures known as Monsters populate the island.
The Research Commission, a human endeavor to study the creatures set up shop on the island, and you take the role of Fina, a would-be member of the Research Commission about to begin her career.
All isn’t completely well on Fort Lemuria however. The island’s guardian, Volzerk, has apparently disappeared, after battling a legendary monster called Magna. Without Volzerk, all the creatures of the island are in terrible danger, and it’s up to you to safeguard their future.
Volzerk is a free-to-play APRG with a monster-raising twist. You team up with some of the island’s creatures to face down foes, and ride around on the backs of the numerous collectible mythical creatures.
In addition to exploration and combat, the game comes with an in-depth breeding system. You can crossbreed monsters to create new creatures. Skills from the parents pass on to their offspring. You can even breed your monsters with ones belonging to your friends over multiplayer.
You can grab Volzerk right now on Google Play.
