After months of waiting, Minecraft has finally revealed the name of its long-awaited 1.20 update. The update is already available in Beta for Minecraft players to try out ahead of its official release date which is currently unannounced.
Considering Minecraft was first released in 2011, Mojang's dedication to updating the game is commendable. In an industry filled with live-service games, it has been all too common recently for developers to drop support for games soon after their release. But Mojang has not only managed to support the game, but it has also resisted the urge to cash in with a quick sequel, which would almost certainly rake in huge amounts of money. The timelessness of Minecraft's gameplay is a huge factor. The developer got it right the first time, and there's no need to try to reinvent the wheel.

The name of the update was revealed on the official Minecraft website, and was confirmed to be titled «Trails & Tales.» According to the developer, «the name represents the journey that Minecraft takes us on,» so it is assumed the name is intended to evoke the general theme of the update. So far, the update promises to be one of the biggest yet for the game, with Minecraft 1.20's addition of archaeology promising to change the way players explore the world. Other additions include the new cherry blossom biome, armor trimming, and multiple new mobs, among other smaller features. Hopefully, there are plenty of other surprises awaiting players when it finally releases.
