We’ve known for a while now that Insomniac Games has been working on Marvel’s Wolverine, but it seems the developer has yet more plans with the Marvel universe, as many may have expected. The studio was recently hit with a ransomware attack that has revealed internal plans on a number of upcoming titles planned for the next several years, as well as their intended release windows.
As shared by a user on ResetEra, a slide from an internal presentation from June 2023 suggests that Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to release in late 2026 (previous leaks have mentioned tentative 2024 and 2025 release windows). Interestingly, as per the leak, the Wolverine game serve as the first game in a larger X-Men universe.
According to the leak, Insomniac also plans to release Marvel’s X-Men in 2030, while an extended roadmap suggests that Marvel’s X-Men 3 (with Wolverine being the trilogy’s first game) is planned for 2033. Another leaked slide detailing Sony’s licensing agreement with Marvel for the X-Men property also mentions plans of a provisional fourth game. Currently, the plan is seemingly to release all games covered in the agreement by 2035.
Obviously, given the timescale we’re talking about here, with several of these projects being several years off, it’s entirely possible that plans may change in the future. As it stands right now though, it looks like this is what Insomniac’s roadmap is looking like.
As per the leak, the developer is also working on a new Ratchet and Clank game, and planning to release a new IP after 2030. A Venom spinoff is also apparently planned for 2025, with Spider-Man 3 targeting a 2028 launch.
