Insomniac has just revealed some of the new technical features and pre-order bonuses that will come with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PC later this year. In 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man wowed PlayStation 4 gamers with excellent web-swinging and combat gameplay, solid voice acting, and an emotional plot that spoke to the core of Marvel’s iconic superhero. Insomniac would release a remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS5 when the spin-off game Spider-Man: Miles Morales was launched in 2020, but there would be no indication that the web-slinger’s latest gaming adventure would make the jump to PC.
At least not until last month’s PlayStation State of Play livestream event, where it was revealed that both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales would be released on Steam and the Epic Game Store in August as part of Sony’s efforts to have at least half of PlayStation’s games available on PC by 2025. Though this announcement went against statements made by Insomniac when the original version of Marvel’s Spider-Man was released in 2018, comic book fans who don’t own a PlayStation console have expressed excitement at the possibility of swinging through what many consider to be one of the best Spider-Man video games ever made. Marvel’s Spider-Man’s move to PC will also likely spawn several creative mods, just like the PC ports of previously PS-exclusive hits like God of War (2018), which spawned a seemly endless supply of clips and memes when it arrived on Steam in January.
