The Super Mario Bros. Movie is crammed with so many easter eggs, we probably won't find them all until the film hits streaming services and we can dissect it frame by frame. However, one deep-cut fans thought they had stumbled upon before the movie even arrived in cinemas has been debunked this week. Turns out the unnamed character who makes a cameo appearance in the ad for Mario and Luigi's plumbing company wasn't voiced by an actor from the Super Mario Super Show after all.
The plumbing ad was first shown during the Super Bowl to generate more hype for the film's release. The inventive bit of marketing went down a storm, and those of us who grew up with Mario were adamant we recognized the voice of the customer in the commercial. She sounds a lot like Princess Toadstool from Mario's Super Show, but turns out that was merely a coincidence.

“You’ve found me! I voiced the mystery lady in the SMB Plumbing commercials. Mystery solved,” Jessica DiCicco tweeted. Not Jeanie Elias who voiced Princess Toadstool. DiCicco shared a clip of her appearance on KCAL News during which she discussed her role in the Mario movie. Turns out she voiced quite a few characters in the film including Mario and Luigi's mom, one of their cousins, and the yellow Toad who proclaims their kind to be adorable when told by Peach that they need to help take down Bowser.
All very different voices which just go to show how talented an actor DiCicco really is. As for why you may think you've heard her voice before, the actor has a long list of credits in big games and shows. She's Adventure Time's Flame Princess, Final Fantasy 13's Lumina, and has also utilized her vocal talents in The Sims 4 and Demon
