New Thor: Love and Thunder merchandise reveals how Thor's post-Infinity Saga arc begins. Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder in his fourth solo film in the MCU as he moves forward from the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Plot details for Love and Thunder have been kept largely under wraps, but it will introduce Christian Bale to the MCU as its primary villain, Gorr the God Butcher, and see the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as Mighty Thor.
Thor's journey towards the end of the Infinity Saga was difficult. In Thor: Ragnarok, he watched Asgard's destruction in order to stop his nefarious sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), and save his people. That was quickly followed by Thanos' (Josh Brolin) attack on Thor and the Asgardian refugee ship at the start of Avengers: Infinity War, where the Titan mercilessly killed Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall (Idris Elba) in front of him. Fueled by the need for revenge, Thor was close to taking down the villain and stopping the Decimation. When he failed, the hero fell into a deep depression. It wasn't until the Snap was reversed and Thanos was finally defeated that he started to feel like his old self again. But instead of taking the Asgard throne, he decided to delegate his duties to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) as he joined Guardians of the Galaxy in their adventures.
