While Max is glad to have been there for Kate when she needed her, Chloe and her mom will get into an argument while Max is on the phone, and Chloe will be upset with Max. This makes it somewhat harder for the pair to fall in love with each other by the end of the game. However, during a very important conversation with Kate later on in Episode 2 of Life is Strange, answering Kate's call will make convincing her to do something significantly easier.
