Rocksteady has announced the release date for 's first post-launch season. The studio previously confirmed the arrival of the iconic DC villain Joker as a playable character in this season, with a take on the character that's different from the previous Arkhamverse games.
[Warning: The following article contains major spoilers for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League]While the majority of 's main story was set within Rocksteady's established Arkhamverse, the post-launch content will see Task Force X exploring the multiverse and visiting "". Toward the end of the game, Lex Luthor explains that there are 13 Brainiacs all connected via a Coluan network across various dimensions. While they're unable to kill the one on their Earth at present, Task Force X does find a way to travel to Earth 2 and capture the Brainiac there, enabling Amanda Waller to kill him with a Dataspike, which destroys part of Brainiac's Skull ship via the Coluan network.
Through this narrative device, Joker will be able to appear once again in the Arkhamverse, despite the character dying in 's shocking finale. This has also allowed Rocksteady a chance to reinvent the character, making him younger and less sure of himself yet.
The Joker who appears in is also different in that he has more experience working as part of a team, being part of the Suicide Squad in his universe. This immediately makes him fit better into the game's team-based dynamic, although the character will apparently be "".
Joker will use an umbrella as his form of traversal and can be seen wielding a chain and cane-type weapon combo for melee attacks.
Rocksteady confirmed the March 28 launch date for Season 1 and the Joker's arrival in a post on the official X account. The studio had always said that it was targeting a March release window, but when it confirmed on the website that there wouldn't be a new patch this week after previous weekly ones, due to the team preparing for the Season 1 launch, many thought it would arrive
