Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman are set to team up and star in, an upcoming film from director Cathy Yan, according to a recent report from Deadline.
The film, according to Deadline’s report, will follow “a desperate gallerist who conspires to sell a dead guy at Art Basel Miami.” No other casting decisions have been announced at this time.
Currently, nothing else is known about the film. Portman is attached as a producer as well, according to the report, as are Jonathan King, Ash Sarohia, Tom McCarthy, Rae Baron, Sophie Mas and Zola Elgart Glassman.
Ortega is one of Hollywood’s biggest rising stars, and recently starred in the 2024 sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was a hit in theaters. She also stars in the Netflix series Wednesday, and was also one of the stars of the past two Scream entries, as well as the Ti West horror film X.
Portman is one of the most well-known actresses in Hollywood history, and the Oscar and Golden Globe winner most recently appeared in critically acclaimed Netflix drama May December, where she starred alongside Julianne Moore. Up next for Portman is a starring role in Phil Johnston’s animated comedy movie The Twits, which is set to release in 2025 on Netflix.
Cathy Yan is best known for her work as director of the 2020 DC film Birds of Prey, which featured a mostly all-female cast comprised of Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, and Ali Wong. Yan also directed the 2018 comedy drama film Dead Pigs, and most recently worked on HBO’s Succession, directing an episode of the series in 2021.
