Samuel L. Jackson explains why he still loves playing Nick Fury after 14 years in the role. The beloved actor has appeared as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director in 11 MCU movies, including cameo roles, since first informing Tony Stark of the Avengers Initiative in 2008's Iron Man. On the small screen, he is set to star in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion sometime this year, and he has confirmed roles in both The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, both set for theatrical release in 2023.
As a performer that is both well-respected and has a history of prominent roles in genre projects, bringing in Jackson as Nick Fury was an inspired bit of casting that surely helped the MCU become the box-office juggernaut it is today. Now, in an interview with Collider, Jackson reflects on his long run as the fan-favorite character, and confirms he still enjoys it as much as he ever did.
