Samuel L. Jackson leads a stellar cast as a samurai cat in the new trailer for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. Paws of Fury is a new animated feature from Paramount Pictures slated for release on July 15. The film is directed by Mark Koetsier, whose background includes being a story artist for Big Hero 6 and 2018's The Grinch, and Rob Minkoff, who previously directed Stuart Little and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Aside from Jackson, the film also has an all-star cast of voice talent, including Michelle Yeoh, Michael Cera, Ricky Gervais, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, George Takei, and Mel Brooks.
The trailer for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, which was shared on YouTube by Paramount Pictures, sees Cera's Hank living in a bad neighborhood where he gets picked on, which inspires him to become a samurai, learning from Jackson's Jimbo, a once-great samurai who has since fallen on hard times. While Paws of Fury is an animated, family-friendly film, the trailer also offers jokes for adults. For example, Jackson's penchant for cursing is given a humorous nod, with the trailer seeing his character say, «What the mother-father cocker spaniel is going on here?» Paws of Fury is also loosely based on Brooks' 1974 film Blazing Saddles, which is far from the family-friendly animation of the new movie.
