Maze Theory, developers of Peaky Blinders: The Kings of Random and Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, has announced a mixed reality puzzle adventure game, Infinite Inside. The game is coming out on 12th July just in time for the Apple Vision Pro launch in Europe, as well as Meta Quest and Pico, where it will be able to feature mixed reality. A fully VR version is also releasing on the same date for PlayStation VR 2 and Steam VR.
Infinite Inside will look to blend together augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) on platforms that support it, starting off in your living room (other real world play spaces are available, and VR-only platforms will have a fully virtual space) with a strange pillar sprouting out of the floor and then zipping you in and out of full VR spaces. The puzzling looks to revolve around finding complex broken up blocks and piecing them together like 3D jigsaw pieces. These then slot into that stone pillar in your room.
It’s an interesting concept, putting puzzling first with a light narrative wrapped around it, as you follow echoes of past explorers, and one that Maze Thoery has opened up to VR enthusiasts via ApplLab and SideQuest already, gaining community feedback to help improve the game.
