IGN is allowing an AI to read all of its game guides(Opens in a new window) so it can answer our questions when we get stuck as well as offer some tips along the way.
The IGN Guides Chatbot(Opens in a new window) is being tested on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide, but eventually it should be available to use with any video game IGN has written a guide for since its game guides section appeared back in 1999.
Much like the ChatGPT experience, questions can be asked via a chat window and the AI will use the knowledge contained in the game guides on the site combined with natural language processing to provide relevant answers.
The system is currently classed as in an "Alpha" state and limited to answering questions about Tears of the Kingdom. However, it's open to everyone(Opens in a new window) who wants to ask a question and feedback is appreciated so the chatbot can be honed and eventually us humans may not need to read these guides anymore.
As IGN explains: "We envision this guides feature to act as a comprehensive search solution for those seeking fast answers to a tricky problem, providing solutions immediately and conveniently without having to look at multiple pages."
In the future, the chatbot will be moved behind the IGN login "to ensure that the AI-powered experience is learning from IGN’s most avid gamers."
Disclosure: IGN is owned by PCMag's parent company Ziff Davis.
