Google has finally given us more information about its generative AI technology called Search Generative Experience (SGE) and how it can actually generate key points from lengthy articles. This will help the reader engage more with content that is considered long-form. The SGE feature is finally available as an early experiment in the Google app on Android and iOS and can be accessed through Search Labs. The feature is also going to come to Chrome in the coming weeks, so if you are primarily a web user, you will not be left behind.
Now, for those who don't know, Google's Search Generative Experience is one of the search features that users can actually go ahead and test out. All you have to do is sign up for Google Search Labs, and you are good to go. The feature was announced earlier this year at the I/O 2023 conference, and the feature uses generative AI to show search results in a format that is easier to read for everyone. Sadly, Search Labs is currently only available in the U.S. and is only available in English.
Honestly, I am really glad that SGE is getting this feature. There are a lot of reasons why people would want to have their articles summarized, especially when they are on the phone.
