Baldur's Gate 3 is a hit, despite many of us expecting its appeal to be a little more limited. There were many reasons to believe this, but it was largely down to the "3" at the end of its title. There are two other Baldur's Gate games, released in 1998 and 2000. Despite being hugely influential, they haven't retained huge player bases, making the success of its follow-up truly impressive.
So, unsurprisingly, this has many Baldur's Gate fans eager for Larian to remake the classics. Having proven itself with Baldur's Gate 3, players want the first two games to get the modern remake treatment, introducing the story of Gorion's Ward to a new generation of fans who are being introduced to the series for the first time.

The conversation just kicked off on ResetEra, with fans putting forward their ideas for how Larian could remake these iconic games. So far, players seem to want completely new releases, built from the ground up, as opposed to a more faithful remaster.
"I adore Baldur's Gate 2 with all my heart but I do think I'd like changes to the combat in a modern remake," says user SofNascimento. "Just a visual upgrade wouldn't be enough."
Others agree, with Snagret saying they would love a "full remake of BG2 in the BG3 engine, with the Larian turn-based combat."
This option definitely seems to be in the lead, with a poll showing that 63.1 percent of fans would love a Baldur's Gate 3-style remake at the time of writing. On the other hand, 36.9 percent would prefer something more faithful to the originals, just improving visuals.
