The mixed-reality headset market is rumored to add another member to the list called the Huawei Vision, as the former Chinese giant is said to take on the Apple Vision Pro with a future launch. To raise the bar and get more customers interested in picking up this head-mounted wearable, the rumor claims that there will be some similarities between the two products, but the Huawei Vision is not only said to be significantly lighter but sport half the price of the Apple Vision Pro.
As reported by Huawei Central, former marketing director of Meizu, Li Nan, states that the Apple Vision Pro competitor weighs 350 grams, making it significantly lighter than the 600-gram mass of the $3,499 AR headset. The Huawei Vision is also said to feature 4K Sony micro-OLED panels, potentially delivering the same immersive experience as the Apple Vision Pro. On paper, both headsets appear similar in hardware specifications, but an in-depth comparison shows that this is not the case.
For instance, the Huawei Vision will lack EyeSight, which is an Apple Vision Pro feature that simulates the wearer’s eyes so the other person can interact with them while standing or sitting next to each other. Another area where the Apple Vision Pro will likely have an edge is the M2 and R1 chipset combo. The rumor claims that Huawei intends to use its self-developed chips for the AR headset, but we do not see how the company will move beyond the Kirin 9000S.
The Chinese firm and its foundry partner, SMIC, are pushing towards 5nm chip production as early as later this year, but we do not believe that this technology will be ready in time for the Huawei Vision launch. The future Apple Vision Pro
