The mode is still the biggest pull for the series, as you try to build the best squad you can, with Chemistry playing a key part in that. The biggest change in Ultimate Team for this year is the introduction of women players who can be used as part of the same squad as the male players that have dominated the mode for years. Alongside this, the new dynamic is Evolution cards which get better throughout the year as you complete objectives. With these two changes, we will see a lot of different players used in teams, especially at the start of the season.

In each player in a starting 11 receives either none, one, two, or three stars based on how many links that player has with the others in that team. This is based on the players Club, Nationality/Region, and League. As it was last year there are no positional links, but players must be in the correct position to earn Chemistry. However, in players that have a secondary position will see it automatically change without the use of a card when put into a formation.
Due to the introduction of female players in Ultimate Team, the biggest change this year is how their cards are linked to their male counterparts. Womens players will link up by leagues separately, such as those participating in the WS. However, they will have a link to male players at the same club, such as Chelsea stars
