Update 1.6 for added a ton of items, including the crafting material Moss that you can get and use in a few new crafting recipes. This item isn't hard to find, but knowing how much you need as a building block can be tricky. You'll want to collect as much Moss as you can, so you can have plenty of it in your inventory to create other items.
While there are many hidden items in that you won't want to miss, Moss is a fairly common item to find. Moss only sells for 5 Gold each, so you won't be trying to farm this item for a ton of money like some other crafting ingredients. While there are random elements to where Moss spawns, you won't have to search for very long to discover some.
Moss can be found growing on the trunks of trees, but you have to tell the difference between a normal tree and one with Moss. This material will look like thick green vines wrapping around a tree trunk. When you spot a tree with Moss on it, all you need to do is hit the tree with an Axe to transfer one or two Moss into your inventory.
Moss appears in every season but Winter, so make sure you stock up on this material at the right times of the year before you are unable to find more.
A new weather system called Green Rainalso causes Moss to appear on trees and weeds you run into while exploring. If you happen to be taking shelter from this 1.6 change to, quickly run outside after the rain has finished to find some Moss spawning on nearby vegetation.
After finding Moss in from a tree, you can use it in many recipes, including important items like Moss Soup, Mushroom Log, a Deluxe Worm Bin, Speed-Gro Fertilizer, and the Statue of Blessings. Here are the recipes for these interesting tools and what they are used for:
