Like many recent PC games, Hogwarts Legacy has trouble running properly on most system configurations. The patches released so far haven't improved performance in any significant way, forcing players to use unofficial fixes to enjoy exploring Hogwarts and its surroundings the way it was meant to be.
Among the performance issues plaguing the game developed by Avalanche Software is texture loading stutter, and a new mod that was shared online in the past few hours, the Vulkan DXVK 2.1 ASYNC mod, addresses this issue with Vulkan DXVK async and additional engine.ini tweaks. The developer tested their mod on NVIDIA GPUs, so it may not work properly on AMD cards.
Alongside mods that attempt to improve the game's visuals and performance, Hogwarts Legacy received some gameplay mods that introduce new mechanics and features, such as a companion system that allows the player to summon companions at any time during the game. When it comes to additional gameplay features, the future is looking bright, as a multiplayer mod is also in the works.
Hogwarts Legacy is now out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S worldwide. The game will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 4th and on Nintendo Switch later this year, on July 25th.
